Managing the social media accounts of any business is a lot of work. Not only do you have to create engaging content and great visuals; you also need to consider the best timing for each post and on which social media networks.

Usually if you are responsible for managing such accounts you can keep track of results and iterate based on that. You can also create posts on the go if necessary and change your mind before posting anything.

However, the situation is different when you go on holiday and you don’t have the time (or the desire) to be monitoring every post at all times, especially if your brand has more than three social media accounts. So here are a few things to keep in mind.

Plan, plan and plan again.

To avoid worrying about work when you’re supposed to be relaxing, you should try to plan your work in advance and keep it scheduled so that you don’t have to worry about it and can trust another team member with the responsibility of monitoring the pages.

It’s important to keep your accounts consistent even when you’re on holiday, so if you usually post every day on Facebook, for example, you should plan accordingly and leave a post scheduled for each day that you are away. This goes for every social media account, so if your brand has lots of platforms to manage, you should try to plan this a few weeks in advance.

That way, the person who is responsible for monitoring your accounts while you’re on holiday just needs to keep an eye on each network to make sure the content is being posted normally and they don’t need to worry about having to create content if that is not their area.

Once you plan all the content for each network, you just need to schedule it and relax.

Scheduling your content.

There are several platforms that allow you to schedule your content for each network, the most common being Buffer and Hootsuite. On these platforms, you can schedule posts for Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin or even blog posts depending on your needs and they will automatically post them for you.

Facebook also itself allows you to do this so if you only have a Facebook page to manage, you can do it all within the platform. Instagram, on the other hand, is the most difficult to manage as its specific settings make it more difficult to post automatically, but there are now solutions on the market that can do this for you.

Whichever platform you choose to plan your content, it is important to keep in mind that you should plan it beforehand and test it to see if it works before you go. That way you can rest assured that everything is running smoothly and you can enjoy your time off.

The above options are great for just scheduling content. However, if you are used to doing paid advertisements for your brand you can use advertio to do so. Leave it all planned out before heading off and we will do it for you, allocating your budget in the best way possible. You can find out more about our platform here.
